Regardless of the weather outdoors, the colours of spring and summer are in full bloom indoors thanks to a new display of artwork at the Sechelt Public Library. The vibrant paintings featuring local flora are the work of Sechelt-based artist Jennifer Goodwin. When asked about what inspires her work, she didn’t have to look further than her own backyard, “I have been lucky enough to take on a new space which opens up onto a lush garden so that I can work with the sounds and sights of nature to inspire me. I live on a very beautiful coastline with ever changing skies and oceans, it is a constant and ongoing boost to my creative life.”
Jennifer Goodwin was born in Liverpool, England and moved to BC in 1980. She received her diploma in Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 1992, and has been working as a full-time artist ever since. She currently divides her time between studios on the Sunshine Coast and California. Her artwork can also be found at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s rental and sales department, and at the WOW Art Gallery in Gibsons.
Goodwin’s paintings can be viewed during regular Library hours, and is also available for purchase directly from the artist. Additional information on the artist can be found on her website at jennifergoodwin.ca
