The District contracts for the collection of residential garbage and collects an annual fee for this service from the properties included in the garbage collection service area. Certain locations, such as mobile home parks, are not included in this service area. These properties are not charged the annual fee.
Direct Disposal, provides service to the District’s garbage collection clients, as well as to other areas of Sechelt. Both Direct Disposal and the District sell tags for collection of additional bags of garbage. For a number of years, people outside the District service area have been purchasing tags from our office and using them.
The sale of District tags (shown in the photo) to residents outside the District service area was done in error. This practice has been stopped.
District tags will no longer be honoured for collection of garbage outside the District’s collection areas. The District will reimburse residents who live outside the collection area for any District tags that they have on hand. If you are not in the District garbage collection area, you will need to purchase garbage collection tags from Direct Disposal. Please contact them at 604 885 4246 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangement for purchase of tags.
For residents who live within the District's garbage collection service area, tags for additional bags of garbage will continue to be available at the District office for a fee of $2 each.
We apologize for any confusion this recent corrective action may have caused.
