For the Record - Statement regarding Seawatch subdivision

October 2, 2018 - The search for a solution to the problems at Seawatch can and should continue, but the District of Sechelt can only do that within the proper bounds of responsible government. The Seawatch subdivision was designed, built, marketed, and sold by a private company. The District of Sechelt cannot accept the argument that when a private sector venture falters, the cost should be borne by the Sechelt taxpayers.

In 2015 the District of Sechelt commissioned one of the most innovative and advanced LEED certified wastewater treatment plants in Canada – The Sechelt Water Resource Centre. This is a state of the art, tertiary level, membrane filtration, wastewater treatment plant rated as a Class IV facility. The District of Sechelt is seeking an individual to join our team as our Wastewater Chief Operator. Life in Sechelt boasts a temperate West Coast climate, access to beautiful and varied land and marine environments, a wide range of community amenities and activities and a vibrant cultural scene. Residents enjoy outstanding “small town” quality of life with access to services both locally and via easy ferry access to BC’s Lower Mainland. This position plays a key role at the District of Sechelt As the Wastewater Chief Operator of the Sechelt Water Resource Centre, you will be responsible for the day to day operation for wastewater treatment, ensuring the facility meets all of its performance requirements safely and efficiently. You will be working closely with the technical support team from the technology supplier – Veolia Water Solutions Canada to refine the treatment operations.

News Release - Advanced voting numbers down

October 10, 2018 was the first voting opportunity for Sechelt voters and numbers were down over 2014. On the first advanced voting day in 2014 there were 391 electors but yesterday 273 electors turned out.
