What is Sustainability?
The term sustainability is often used in reference to the environment or forms of development, but the concept is much larger. It is defined in this plan as a concept to guide decision-making toward meeting the needs of the present in ways that ensure that future generations are able to meet their needs and have a high quality of life.
Sustainability is about having a vibrant economy, well protected ecosystems and healthy citizens with strong community connections. It is about living well today, while preparing for our future.
The Sechelt Mayor and Council endorsed the Sustainability Action Plan
in October 2011.
