News Release - Pilot project to reduce human and wildlife interactions

Posted: 2 years 47 days ago

Sechelt, BC – The District of Sechelt is pleased to announce a partnership with local community advocate and realtor, Tony Browton to pilot an innovative tool to improve citizen safety in parks and trails.

The District of Sechelt has been taking measures to reduce conflicts between citizens and wildlife with the installation of bear-proof garbage bins in most municipal parks and trails. The next step in this safety campaign is to safely frighten the animals away from human only areas. Bear aware and other safety campaigns advocate making noise to frighten wildlife so the District is partnering with Mr. Browton, to install wireless, micro-resonation units (MRU) in Kinnikinick Park as a pilot project.
