syíyaya Days: June 21 – July 1

A multi-day celebration is coming to ch’atlich (Sechelt) and will include events on National Indigenous Peoples Day, Canada Day as well as the days in between. Celebrating Indigenous culture, histories, and ways of knowing, the 11 days of activities kick off with National Indigenous Peoples Day on Tuesday, June 21.

The District of Sechelt worked in partnership with the shíshálh Nation and the syíyaya Reconciliation Movement to develop a series of events and activities including: a film screening, cultural walking tours, live performances, arts workshops, a drumming circle, artist-designed street banners, a dialogue circle, a KAIROS Blanket exercise, museum tours, storytelling, a parade and community fun.
