Due to a staffing shortage at Waste Management there will be changes to schedules and missed pick-up dates.
Missed pick-ups and recovery dates are posted here for 7 days.

Dumpsters for household garbage and recycling will be available at 5920 Sechelt Inlet Road if there is a route down from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Please be assured that the information being sent out by the District of Sechelt is current and correct at the time of publishing, however, this information can/will change on short notice, during the course of a collection day or after normal work hours. We are working with Waste Management to receive updates in a timelier manner, especially if the collection schedule changes during a collection, or makeup collection, day.

Pickup Disruption Update - October 8, 2021
Due to driver shortage, collection for the following list of properties did not receive service Friday October 8, 2021:
- Selma Park/Davis Bay - from Selma Park Road to Hazelnut Lane - ORGANICS
- Upper West Sechelt - north of Norwest Bay Road from Mason Road to Highway 101 - GARBAGE

Due to driver shortage, garbage collection for the Davis Bay route will not receive service Friday September 24.

Pickup Disruption Update - September 14, 2021
Due to driver shortage, garbage collection for the Downtown and lower West Sechelt route did not receive service Tuesday September 14. A full list of impacted properties can be found here.
This route will be picked up Saturday, September 18.
Pickup Disruption Update - September 17, 2021
Waste Management is unable to complete the collection of garbage scheduled on this route Friday, September 17, due to a driver shortage.
Please do not place garbage bins at the curb on Friday, September 17, and secure safely to prevent wildlife access.
Place garbage curbside by 8 am on Saturday, September 18.
Pickup Disruption Update - September 13, 2021
All homes that were missed for recycling Monday September 13 will be recovered Wednesday September 15.
**September 16 Update**
It has been noted that some residences on Emily Way, Norwest Bay Road and Nickerson Road were missed during the recovery (September 15) pickup. If your residence on these roads were missed, please put your bins out by 8:00 am tomorrow, September 17th for recovery.
Sechelt solid waste collection
All garbage materials must be completely contained in garbage bags, no loose garbage, loose tissues, or personnel hygiene products will be picked up.

Recycling is picked up bi-weekly on Mondays. Please use the collections waste wizard below to view the schedule in your area. For a list of what can go in your blue recycling bin look it up in the waste wizard below or go to the recycle bc website for general recycling information.
No glass in any curb side blue box recycling in Sechelt –all glass must go to depots either Salish Soils or Gibsons recycling depot.
Please do not use plastic bags for the over flow of recycling.
These will damage the machinery in the recycling trucks. Over flow items can be put out in cardboard boxes, tote bins that are easy for the drivers to dump into the truck, or bundled with non-plastic twine
Extra recycling can be put out with your bin in a second clean bin or a cardboard box.

Garbage is picked up weekly on either Tuesdays or Fridays depending on your neighborhood. Put your bin out before 8 am. See the schedule below for additional information.
- Garbage is limited to one standard (80l) garbage bin per household, no heavier than 20kgs (44lbs)
- Extra cans / bags will require garbage tags - purchased from the municipal office for $4.00 each
- Make sure the tag is easily visible on the bag or can
