Garbage & Recycling Information

All garbage materials must be completely contained in garbage bags, no loose garbage, loose tissues or personnel hygiene products will be picked up. 


Recycling is picked up bi-weekly on Mondays. Please use the Collections Waste Wizard below to view the schedule in your area. For a list of what can go in your blue recycling bin look it up in the Waste Wizard below or go to the Recycle BC website for general recycling information. 

No Glass in any curb side blue box recycling in Sechelt –ALL GLASS must go to depots either Salish Soils or Gibsons Recycling Depot.

Extra recycling can be put out with your bin in a second clean bin or a cardboard box. Do NOT bag recycling.


Garbage is picked up weekly on either Tuesdays or Fridays depending on your neighbourhood.  Put your bin out before 8 am. See the schedule below for additional Information.

  • Garbage is limited to one standard (80L) garbage bin per household, no heavier than 20kgs (44lbs)
  • Extra cans / bags will require garbage tags -  purchased from the Municipal Office for $4.00 each
  • Make sure the tag is easily visible on the bag or can

  • Sechelt Landfill (604 885-6889)   
  • Sechelt Landfill is located at 4901 Dusty Road off of Sechelt Inlet Road. See the Sechelt Landfill website for hours, tipping fees and a list of accepted materials.
  • Gibsons Recycling (604-740-1425) accepts electronic waste and many other items including styrofoam, paint cans, fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs, etc.
