B.C. municipalities will no longer be responsible for accepting deferment applications. In 2020 the Property Tax Deferment program launched a new online Property Tax Deferment application to make deferring your taxes easier – eliminating the need for paper forms and allowing you to auto renew your application directly with the Province of B.C. through eTaxBC.
How to apply or renew your existing agreement:
Go to www.gov.bc.ca/propertytaxdeferment.
Important: Do not forget to claim your home owner grant, if eligible. Deferment does not cover utilities, refer to your tax notice and make payment to the District of Sechelt for utilities levied, example: (Garbage Utility User Fee or Sewer Residential Utility Fee). Unpaid utilities are subject to penalty if not paid by property tax due date.
