Friday Waste Collection Cancelled

Due to slushy and messy side road conditions, waste collection for Friday, January 19 is CANCELLED. 

Pick up Plan

Garbage, recycling and organics will be collected next Friday on the regular collection day. There will not be yard waste pick up that day.

As part of Budget 2024, the District of Sechelt invites the public to attend an online information session and explanation about Budget 2024. There will be two dates for public meetings, the first of which taking place Tuesday, November 28. Please choose a time that is most convenient for you.

Mayor Resigns as SCRD Alternate Director

From the desk of Mayor John Henderson:

Effective immediately, I am resigning as an Alternate Director of the SCRD. As well, I will not seek election to the SCRD Board for the remainder of my term as Mayor.

The SCRD board has issued their public censure of me for my short outburst on April 27, 2023. And I have expressed my regret. I believe this is where the matter should end.

However, I have learned the SCRD is pursuing the District of Sechelt Council asking us to ban me from sitting on the SCRD...

Local Organizations Receive Funding

Four community organizations have received some much-needed funding thanks to the District's Community Investment Program. Mayor Henderson and Councillor Bell presented cheques to the following groups:

  • $500 - Sunshine Coast Community Orchestra Association
  • $5000 - Sunshine Coast Hospice Society
  • $10,000 - Arrowhead Clubhouse
  • $10,500 - Restorative Justice Program of the Sunshine Coast
