Ways to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Learning and commemorating the truth about our history is an important path of reconciliation. Remembering our past, reflecting, learning and understanding – this is reconciliation. Everyone in Sechelt and beyond has the opportunity to memorialize the children lost to the residential school system and honour Survivors and their families.
Here are some ways to act and help advance reconciliation:
- Commemorate and walk with shíshálh Nation on Monday, September30.
- Commemorate: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Community Safety Meeting #2

Join us for the second community safety meeting.
Meeting Details- Thursday, October 3rd
- 6:30 pm , doors will open at 6
- A mix of speakers, public interaction and small table discussions.
As there is a capacity limit at the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre, we encourage people to sign up early. If capactiy is reached on the sign up sheet, a second date will be added.

What We Heard - Community Safety Meeting #1

On August 21, 2024, more than 200 residents, staff, members of the RCMP and more came together to discuss the current concerns about crime and safety in Sechelt and to come up with solutions.

Municipal Hall & Library Renovations Begin

Council Release Complete Governance Audit

At their in-camera meeting on Wednesday, September 11, Council agreed to release the entire findings of a governance audit report.
The 145-page audit includes notes and interviews, and includes recommendations by the consultant
Timeline
- June 26 - Council releases a summary report of the audit
- February 2024 - The District requests an audit, conducted by an external firm, to improve relations internally, but ultimately for the benefit and service to the citizens of Sechelt.
