Financial Services

Financial Services is responsible for providing financial reporting, policies and procedures, services and support to other District departments and external entities in order to ensure the District's financial operations are effectively managed. The Financial Services provides financial advice and guidance to Council and staff.

Major responsibilities include:

    • Providing information, reports and analysis to District Council, the Public and District Departments regarding financial operations
    • Establishing, developing and maintaining accounting systems and procedures relating to financial activities for District operations
    • Billing and collecting municipal taxes, sewer charges and other receivables
    • Preparing the District's operating and capital budgets
    • Processing accounts receivable and accounts payable
    • Maintaining corporate procurement and purchasing by-law
    • Managing cash, investments and borrowing of funds
    • Preparing District's annual financial statements
    • Airport and Wharf Administration
