To obtain a Business Licence or other permits follow the BizPaL process.
To apply, you may download and print the forms required and submit them in person. Be sure to bring payment with your Business Licence Application Form to the District Hall on the 2nd floor at 5797 Cowrie Street.
The District of Sechelt supports the establishment of appropriate home-based businesses in residential zones and establishes permitted businesses and parking in the Zoning Bylaw. A business licence is required for home-based businesses.
Businesses operated in residences are subject to specific regulations. Please read Sechelt Zoning Bylaw No. 25, 1987 for full details.
Section 307 of Sechelt's Zoning Bylaw outlines the restrictions and permitted uses of a home operated business.
Business Licence Fees
- $125.00 for a business in the basic category
- $175.00 for a business in two or more categories
- inter-community Business Licence is an additional fee of $50*
Business licence fees may be paid in cash or by cheque, Interac, Visa and MasterCard.
Fees are charged on an annual basis, and are non-refundable once a licence has been approved and issued.
Business Licences are issued for one calendar year, January 1st to December 31st. The licence fee is pro-rated on August 1st (for new businesses only).
* An inter-community Business Licence allows Sechelt based businesses to conduct business in the Town of Gibsons and/or Sechelt Indian Band. This allows businesses to pay for one licence and no longer have to purchase a licence in multiple locations. Please check the inter-community box on the application when applying.
