Payment Options
Online banking |
Pay your property taxes online or by phone as you would any other bill. Simply add the number 570 in front of your eight-digit folio number, minus the decimal (for example, 57000094650). Select Sechelt as payee. All online payments must be made several days in advance prior to the tax deadline. |
Paying by mail |
We accept property tax cheques post-dated. Make your cheque payable to the District of Sechelt and mail it, along with the remittance stub. Please allow suitable mailing time. Payments will be on time if postdated on or before the due date. Mail delayed by Canada Post will be considered late and subject to penalty. |
Paying at the Municipal Hall |
We accept Cheque, Cash, or Debit. |
Mortgage |
It is between you and your Mortgagee to ensure that property taxes are paid to the District in full, including the portion of your property taxes that may be covered if you are eligible for the Provincial Home Owner Grant. The Mortgagee must advise the District of Sechelt that they require annual property tax information on your property. As a precaution, we recommend that if you have a new mortgage that you take a copy of your property tax notice to your Mortgage holder to ensure that they are remitting property taxes on your behalf. |
Pre-Authorized Prepayment Plan |
You will determine the amount of your monthly fixed prepayment, which will be deducted from your bank account on the first business day of the 10-month period beginning in August and ending in May. The minimum monthly installment amount is $10.00. The total payments made under this option may not exceed the estimate of next year's property taxes. To apply to pay your taxes monthly, fill in an application form. Submit the application form and a VOID cheque, to the municipal hall. Already paying your taxes monthly? You do not need to apply again. Your monthly payments will automatically resume in August. Pre-Authorized Prepayment Plan Form Pre-Authorized Prepayment Plan Change Form |
