Standing with shíshálh Nation

On behalf of Council and all staff at the District of Sechelt, we extend our deepest condolences to shíshálh Nation following their heartbreaking discovery of more unmarked graves. We recognize the profound pain and grief this brings and we honour the children, families and ancestors whose lives were and continue to be impacted.

We stand with them in mourning and in truth. Our thoughts are with them and we are committed to supporting shíshálh Nation in any way that is respectful and guided by their wishes. We are here to listen, to learn and to walk alongside in this healing journey.

Our flags are lowered to half in honour.
