DOS is 40!

On this day in 1986, the Village of Sechelt became the District of Sechelt. DOS is 40!

With the population growing, the Village was declared a District municipality on June 30, 1986. The Village itself incorporated with letters patented on February 15, 1956.

This land was a large meeting area for shíshálh people who have been here since time immemorial. We are honored to call this area home and continue to learn and celebrate the deep roots of indigenous language and culture that continues on.
