  • 2025 Annual Report Approved

    At their meeting on Wednesday June 17, Council received and reviewed the District’s 2025 Annual Report.

    Following a two-week period for public review and input, the published report highlights the District of Sechelt’s actions and accomplishments in advancing Council and corporate strategic goals throughout 2025. The added financial statements reflect the highest standards of government accountability.

    • Quick stats from every department.
    • Audited Financial statements to present a clear picture of the District’s revenues, expenditures and investments.

    Featuring images and quick stats, the report offers citizens a snap shot of what staff and Council accomplished in 2025.

  • Opportunity: OCP Touch Point Committee

    We are developing an Official Community Plan. As part of the process, a committee forms to look over the draft plans to ensure we're heading in the right direction.

  • Community Safety Group Update

    Highlights from the March meeting of the Community Wellness and Safety Technical Working Group include:

    Terms of Reference
    The main change was to ensure meetings more casual (rather than procedural like a council meeting) atmosphere that flows well, not losing accountability or responsibility.

    Community Safety Coordinator position

    Review the job description, ensure actioning community safety items even though the position is part time.

  • Council Bylaw Amendments

    The District of Sechelt is considering amending its Council Procedure Bylaw. The proposed amendment was given three readings by Council on April 1, 2026, and will be considered for adoption at the May 6, 2026, Regular Council Meeting.

    Learn about Sechelt's next Official Community Plan and provide your thoughts on the top priorities that guide the plan. For example, what should be the most important priority guiding the OCP? Housing, transportation, environment.
  • Bear-Resistant Organics Bins

    Great News! 

    Bear-resistant green organics bins are available for residents in the District of Sechelt.

    The bins have lids that remain locked until lifted upside down by the waste collection truck.

  • Parks, Recreation and Culture: Have Your Say

    The District of Sechelt wants to hear from residents about their current and future needs when it comes to parks, recreation, culture services and facilities. A project is underway to engage with residents and gather feedback to develop a Community Services Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan to guide future planning and decisions.
