Transportation services within the District of Sechelt consists of the infrastructure, planning and facilities necessary to move throughout the District in all ways. Including walking, rolling, driving, transit and micromobility.

Transportation Planning

The Engineering Team is responsible for transportation planning and project implementation. A Transportation Master Plan renewal is currently underway with more information on the District Projects page.

Active Transportation

Sechelt has a network of pathways, trails and walkways to facilitate active travel. The Engineering Team develops active transportation infrastructure that is available to all residents and responds to the changing needs as the community grows.

Infrastructure

Transportation infrastructure is constructed in accordance with transportation plans and District of Sechelt bylaws through both capital works and development projects.

Public Transit

The transit system is operated by BC Transit in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD).

Highway 101

Highway 101 (Sunshine Coast Hwy) is managed and maintained by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI).

Inquires or requests relating to the highway planning or maintenance should be directed to MOTI.

Maintenance

Transportation infrastructure, including roads and sidewalks and related facilities within the District of Sechelt are maintained by the Public Works Team.
